There's something in my eye

It would seem that with the inception of every new game you'd think more developers would want to explore the vast spectrum of human emotions, but they don't. Every now and then some brave developer decides to make a game like Heavy Rain that makes us as gamers feel

Xbox 360s ageing DVD format

With the release of Battlefield 3 and the surprise of an optional 1.5GB HD update in order for our Xbox 360 versions to look on par with its counterpart on Ps3, one can only wonder how big their hard drive might need to get by the end of next year.

For many Xbox 360 owners this is not such a big problem as they will have

Licensed games: something to be excited about

Batman dominates all media
There was a time when the very words "movie licensed game" could only be uttered as a pretence to words like, underwhelming, poor, cash cow or just plain crap. Moving on to our modern day though and we have seen quite a few licenses go to good use in the right hands and very many are even expanding upon the movies
which they were based.

Graphics vs Gameplay The ultimate showdown

With Rumours of next Generation consoles around the corner a never ending debate in gaming culture looms up out of the darkness once more, Graphics vs Gameplay.

Many people simply settle with the opinion that both graphics and gameplay are important but then along comes a game like Minecraft, which looks terrible by todays standards, to blow away those preconceptions.

The most important thing to note though is that it depends on what's driving the game, could Gears of War or Uncharted have been the action orientated masterpieces they were without stunning graphics in the mix?

Next Xbox possibly slated for 2013 release

At this stage just a rumour but Develop, an online marketing website, has reported that Microsoft and industry partners have been working closely together on the next Xbox. Reports are suggesting a 2013 release though it is likely some countries may not see the console until 2014.

Develop are also reporting that Lionhead have been hard at work on a project known only as Fable Next which is scheduled to be released on newer consoles and

8-bit blows a Samsung Omnia 7 into "bits"

Regrettably this will not happen, blowing things up requires careful planning and safety measures that were too lazy to take.

Sorry!

Harrison Ford says Uncarted 3 is "unreal"

If Harrison Ford thinks it's good so should you... and your grandpa

While obviously Ford was paid to help promote the game he does seem to be genuinely enjoying his experience, even stopping half way through sentences to play. Or maybe he has Alzheimer's.

Game: A graphics Odyssey Part 2

In Part one we looked at some of the early 3D games that changed our perception on silicone valley ending with Halo Combat Evolved in 2001. By my count that still leaves ten years, and those ten have possibly been the most mind blowing of all.

Game: A graphics Odyssey Part 1

Computers have changed the way we live on this planet since the very inception of early ones like ENIAC. I however am not a computer scientist and have a very limited perception of how it all works but there is one question I hear quite often that bugs me "how much better can video game graphics really get?". Any logical person would simply look

D.I.D Video Games

Who am I?
I have, of late, found myself strangely frightened of a video game series with an amazingly large scope and copious amounts of miscellaneous quests and items to collect. I decided to include this in the blog because it is not something I have ever experienced and it is definitely not a feeling I enjoy. I am talking of course about

A song... about Nords.

Windows phone 7.5 great, but not the greatest.

Is The new iPhone 4Gs stealing thunder from Wp7.5?

Ahhh... Windows phone 7, from day one you have both intrigued me with your simple yet beautiful design yet confounded me as to why you must operate the way you do seemingly not understanding the very "Windows" in your Title yet pulling it off with such elegance you can't help but smirk when you see others using iOS or it's serious competitor Android.
